Malware is a portmanteau of the words "malicious" and "software". Malware is installed on a computer without user consent or knowledge can include code that installs viruses, spyware (programs designed to collect or steal data), or adware (programs designed to deliver unwanted advertising while using your computer).
In the context of online advertising, malware is generally delivered by website advertising either via counterfeit media buys posing as legitimate advertisers or hijacked ad technology.
